San Francisco State University (B.S. in Biochemistry, with Honors, 1982); University of San Francisco School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1990), Member of the McAuliffe Honor Society and Law Review, Recipient of American Jurisprudence Awards in Civil Procedure, Evidence, Property, Remedies, and Legal Research and Writing.

After his externship with the California Supreme Court, Mr. Burke began his legal career in 1990 with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco where he was a member of the firm’s product liability, toxic tort, and environmental litigation teams. Throughout the 1990’s, Mr. Burke represented clients in the railroad, solid waste, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries. He represented Fibreboard Corporation in its national asbestos litigation, and Baxter Healthcare Corporation regionally in its breast implant litigation. Mr. Burke also represented a number of plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury cases, including infants and small children who suffered severe brain injuries from the collapse of defective cribs.

After leaving Brobeck in 2000, Mr Burke joined Walnut Creek’s Bruen & Burke where he focused his practice on commercial litigation matters including contract, partnership, securities, employment, small business, and real estate property disputes. Since 1998, Mr. Burke has been a regular, invited speaker at the University of California’s Continuing Education of the Bar programs on topics relating to civil litigation and trial in California’s state and federal courts. Mr. Burke joined the Firm in 2004 and continues to represent clients in products liability, real property, toxic tort, premises liability, employment, general negligence, and business litigation matters. He became a Partner in 2007.
