A Tribute to John Matthews

John D. Matthews John D. Matthews passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. John was born in Belleville, Illinois October 10, 1947 and grew up in the St. Louis area. He received a full scholarship to Washington University and earned his B.A. in 1969. Following college, John attended the University of Michigan Law School where he received his J.D. in 1972. He remained active with the alumni groups of his college and law school.

John came to Seattle after graduation from law school and commenced his legal career as a staff attorney for the Washington State Legislature. At the time of his death he was a Senior Counsel with the law firm Jackson & Wallace LLP.

John is survived by his mother, Ruth Boggs Matthews of Seattle and his aunt, Sarah L. Boggs of St. Louis.

An avid tennis player, John was a member of the Central Park Tennis Club 12630 N.E. 59th Street, Kirkland Washington where a memorial celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m.

Jackson & Wallace Alumni Appointed to San Francisco Superior Court -

Governor Schwarzenegger appointed former Jackson & Wallace LLP attorney Anne-Christine Massullo to the San Francisco Superior Court. Massullo was with Jackson & Wallace LLP from 1987-1989. She will replace retiring Judge James L. Warren. Massullo has headed the city attorney's neighborhood and resident safety division since January. Prior to that, she was an assistant U.S. attorney.
